The picturesque town of East Gwillimbury is located in the northern part of York Region, just 30 minutes north of Toronto, Ontario. It encompasses an area of 238-square kilometres. It is a family-oriented community that boasts all the benefits of city living while maintaining the feel of a tight-knit community. East Gwillimbury encompasses a variety of neighborhoods, including urban areas, suburban areas, rural hamlets, estate residential subdivisions and agricultural land.
East Gwillimbury takes its name from the family of Elizabeth Posthuma Gwillim, daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Gwillim. In 1782, Elizabeth Gwillim married Sir John Graves Simcoe, first Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada. The town itself consists of a number of growing urban areas and villages including Holland Landing, Queensville, Mount Albert, River Drive Park, and Sharon. These areas are separated by farms, beautiful forests, countryside residences and recreational areas which all add to the overall character of the town.
The Enclave at Sharon Village is the crown jewel of an up-and-coming area and is situated at its highest point. Thornridge and Wycliffe Homes are striving to achieve a higher state of living by looking to the past for inspiration. It’s time to focus on community and family again, and this is the perfect setting to do it.
